It happened that the cat met Mr。 Fox in the woods。 She thought, “He is intelligent and well experienced, and is highly regarded in the world,” so she spoke to him in a friendly manner, “Good-day, my dear Mr。 Fox。 How is it going? How are you? How are you getting by in these hard times?”

The fox, filled with arrogance, examined the cat from head to feet, and for a long time did not know whether he should give an answer。 At last he said, “Oh, you poor beard-licker, you speckled fool, you hungry mouse hunter, what are you thinking? Just then a hunter came by with four dogs。 The cat jumped nimbly up a tree, and sat down at its top, where the branches and foliage completely hid her。

“Untie your sack, Mr。 Fox, untie your sack,” the cat shouted to him, but the dogs had already seized him, and were holding him fast。

“Oh, Mr。 Fox,” shouted the cat。 “You and your hundred tricks are left in the lurch。 If you been able to climb like I can, you would not have lost your life。”

就在這時(shí),獵人帶著四條狗走近了。貓敏捷地竄到一棵樹上,在樹頂上蹲伏下來,茂密的樹葉把它遮擋得嚴(yán)嚴(yán)實(shí)實(shí)。

“快打開你的計(jì)謀口袋,狐貍先生,快打開呀!”貓沖著狐貍喊道??墒谦C狗已經(jīng)將狐貍撲倒咬住了。“哎呀,狐貍先生,”貓喊道,“你的千百種本領(lǐng)就這么給扔掉了!假如你能像我一樣爬樹就不至於丟了性命了!”

拇指姑娘

She had a little house of her own, a little garden too, this woman of whom I am going to tell you, but for all that she was not quite happy.

If only I had a little child of my own,she said, Then, indeed, I should be quite happy.

And an old witch heard what the woman had wished, and said, Oh, but that is easily managed. Here is a barley-corn. Plant it in a flower-pot and tend it carefully, and then you will see what will happen.

The woman was in a great hurry to go home and plant the barley-corn, but she did not forget to say ;thank you; to the old witch. She not only thanked her, she even stayed to give her six silver pennies.

And what do you think happened? Almost before the corn was planted, up shot a large and beautiful flower. It was still unopened. The petals were folded closely together, but it looked like a tulip. It really was a tulip, a red and yellow one, too.

The woman loved flowers. She stooped and kissed the beautiful bud. As her lips touched the petals, they burst open, and oh! wonder of wonders! there in the very middle of the flower, there sat a little child. Such a tiny, pretty little maiden she was.

They called her Thumbelina. That was because she was no bigger than the womans thumb.

And where do you think she slept?

When she slept little Thumbelina lay in her cradle on a tiny heap of violets, with the petal of a pale pink rose to cover her.

And where do you think she played? A table was her playground. On the table the woman placed a plate of water. Little Thumbelina called that her lake.

Round the plate were scented flowers, the blossoms laying on the edge, while the pale green stalks reached thirstily down to the water.

She peeped at her, this ugly toad.

How beautiful the little maiden is, she croaked. She will make a lovely bride for my handsome son. And she lifted the little cradle, with Thumbelina in it, and hopped out through the broken window-pane, down into the garden.

At the foot of the garden was a broad stream. Here, under the muddy banks lived the old toad with her son.

你猜發(fā)生了什么?麥粒剛種下去,一朵美麗的大花就破土而出。這是一朵沒開放的花,它的葉子緊緊的包在一起,看起來像是一朵郁金香。它真的是一朵郁金香,而且是紅中帶黃的。

女人非常喜歡花。她彎腰在美麗的花蕾上親了一下。她的嘴唇一碰到花瓣,花兒立刻綻放了!噢,太美妙了!就在花的中央,坐著一個(gè)小小孩兒!多么小,多么可愛的一個(gè)少女啊!

大家叫她拇指姑娘。因?yàn)樗挥幸粋€(gè)人的拇指那么點(diǎn)大。

你們知道她睡在哪里嗎?

小小拇指姑娘睡覺時(shí)躺在用紫羅蘭花瓣墊著的胡桃殼里,蓋的是粉色玫瑰花瓣。

你知道她又是在怎么玩耍嗎?一張桌子就是她玩耍的天地,女人在桌上放了一盤子水,拇指姑娘把它叫做她的湖

盤子上擺了一圈芳香的花兒,花朵沿著邊兒排開,而嫩綠的枝干貪婪地伸向水中。

In the lake floated a large tulip leaf. This was Thumbelinas little boat. Seated there she sailed from side to side of her little lake, rowing cleverly with two white horse hairs. As she rowed backwards and forwards she sang softly to herself. The woman listening hardly, and thought she had never known so sweet a song.

And now such a sad thing happened.

In through the broken window-pane hopped a big toad, oh! such an ugly big toad. She hopped right on to the table, where Thumbelina lay dreaming in her tiny cradle, under the pale pink rose leaf.

How handsome she thought him! But he was really very ugly. Indeed, he was exactly like his mother.

When he saw little Thumbelina in her tiny cradle, he croaked with delight.

Do not make so much noise, said his mother, or you will wake the tiny creature. We may lose her if we are not careful. The slightest breeze would waft her far away. She is as light as gossamer.

Then the old toad carried Thumbelina out into the middle of the stream. She will be safe here, she said, as she laid her gently on one of the leaves of a large water lily, and paddled back to her son.

We will make ready the best rooms under the mud,she told him, and then you and the little maiden will be married.

Poor little Thumbelina! She had not seen the ugly big toad yet, nor her ugly son.

When she woke up early in the morning, how she wept! Water all around her! How could she reach the shore? Poor little Thumbelina!

Down under the mud the old toad was very busy, decking the best room with buttercups and buds of water-lilies to make it gay for her little daughter-in-law, Thumbelina.

Now we will go to bring her little bed and place it ready, said the old toad, and together she and her son swam out to the leaf where little Thumbelina sat.

Croak, croak, was all the young toad could say, as he looked at his pretty little bride.

Then they took away the tiny little bed, and Thumbelina was left alone.

How the tears stained her pretty little face! How fast they fell into the stream! Even the fish as they swam hither and thither thought, How it rains to-day, as the tiny drops fell thick and fast.

They popped up their heads and saw the forlorn little maiden.

She shall not marry the ugly toad, they said, as they looked with eager eyes at the pretty child. No, she shall not marry the ugly toad.

But what could the little fish do to help Thumbelina?

Oh! they were such clever little fish!

They found the green stem which held the leaf on which Thumbelina sat. They bit it with their little sharp teeth, and they never stopped biting, till at last they bit the green stem through; and away, down the stream, floated the leaf, carrying with the little Thumbelina.

Free, free!; she sang, and her voice tinkled as a chime of fairy bells. ;Free, free! ; she sang merrily as she floated down the stream, away, far way out of reach of the ugly old toad and her ugly son.

And as she floated on, the little wild birds sang round her, and on the banks the little wild harebells bowed to her.

Butterflies were flitting here and there in the sunshine. A pretty little white one fluttered on to the leaf on which sat Thumbelina. He loved the tiny maiden so well that he settled down beside her.

Now she was quite happy! Birds around here, flowers near her, and the water gleaming like gold in the summer sunshine. What besides could little Thumbelina wish?

She took off her sash and threw one end of it round the butterfly. The other end she fastened firmly to the leaf. On and on floated the leaf, the little maiden and the butterfly.

Suddenly a great cockchafer buzzed along. Alas! he caught sight of little Thumbelina. He flew to her, put his claw round her tiny waist and carried her off, up on to a tree.

Poor little Thumbelina! How frightened she was! How grieved she was, too. Would he fly away, she wondered, or would her sash hold him fast?

The cockchafer was charmed with the little maiden. He placed her tenderly on the largest leaf he could find. He gathered honey for her from the flowers, and as she sipped it, he sat near and told her how beautiful she looked.

But there were other chafers living in the tree, and when they came to see little Thumbelina, they said, ;She is not pretty at all.

She only has two legs, said one.

She has no feelers,said another.

Some said she was too thin, others said she was too fat, and then they all buzzed and hummed together, How ugly she is, how ugly she is! But all the time little Thumbelina was the prettiest, daintiest little maiden that ever lived.

And now the cockchafer who had flown off with little Thumbelina thought he had been rather foolish to admire her.

He looked at her again. Pretty? No, after all she was not very pretty. He would have nothing to do with her, and away he and all the other chafers flew. Only first they carried little Thumbelina down from the tree and placed her on a daisy. She wept because she was so ugly - so ugly that the chafers could not live with her. But all the time, you know, she was the prettiest little maiden in the world.

湖里漂著一片大郁金香葉子,這是拇指姑娘的小船。她靈巧的用兩根白馬尾做漿,把小船從湖的這頭劃到那頭。她來來回回劃船時(shí)輕輕地哼著歌兒,女人豎著耳朵聽著,她覺得從來沒聽過這么一首甜美的歌。

一只大癩蛤蟆從破窗格子里跳了進(jìn)來。天啊,多么丑陋的一只癩蛤蟆,她一下子跳到桌上,拇指姑娘此刻正蓋著粉紅的玫瑰花瓣,躺在小搖籃里做著美夢呢。

這只丑蛤蟆偷窺著她,

呱呱,這姑娘真漂亮!正好做我那漂亮兒子的新娘!于是她抓起拇指姑娘正睡著的小搖籃,從破窗格子跳了出去,跳進(jìn)了花園。

花園底下有一條寬寬的小溪,癩蛤蟆和她兒子就住在這泥濘的岸邊。

癩蛤蟆覺得她兒子長的好看極了,但事實(shí)上他非常丑。他和他媽簡直就是一個(gè)模子里鑄出來的!

當(dāng)他看見小床里的拇指姑娘時(shí),興奮的呱呱大叫起來。

別吵!他媽說,你會(huì)把這小可愛吵醒的!我們不小心點(diǎn)的話會(huì)讓她跑掉的!微風(fēng)都能把她吹走,她就像紗一樣輕啊。

老蛤蟆把拇指姑娘背到河中央,她在這里會(huì)很安全,她說,把她輕輕地放在一片大睡蓮的葉子上,然后游回到兒子身邊。

我們要在泥巴下建幾間最好的屋子,老蛤蟆說,這樣你和她就可以結(jié)婚啦!

可憐的拇指姑娘!她還從沒見過這兩只丑癩蛤蟆啊。

拇指姑娘一早醒來發(fā)現(xiàn)自己的處境后,傷心的哭泣起來,她的四周都是水!怎么回到岸上呢?可憐的拇指姑娘啊!

地底下呢, 老癩蛤蟆正忙著用燈芯草和黃睡蓮把房間裝飾了一番——新媳婦要住在里面,當(dāng)然應(yīng)該收拾得漂亮一點(diǎn)才對(duì)。

好了,現(xiàn)在我們要把她的小床搬來放到洞房里,老蛤蟆說,隨后她就和她的兒子向那片托著拇指姑娘的葉子游去。

閣!閣!呱!呱!呱!這位少爺看著他漂亮的小新娘所能講出的話,就只有這一點(diǎn)。

他們搬走了小床,把拇指姑娘一個(gè)人留在那里。

拇指姑娘哭花了她的小臉,眼淚滴進(jìn)了小河里。她哭得越來越傷心,眼淚滴得越來越快,游來游去的魚兒都在想,下大雨了呀?

他們探出小腦袋來,看見了這個(gè)可憐的小姑娘。

他們焦急的看著這么個(gè)可人兒,大家一致認(rèn)為:她不能嫁給那個(gè)丑癩蛤蟆

但是小魚能幫上拇指姑娘什么忙呢?

喔,他們真是聰明的小東西!

它們找到了托著那片綠葉的梗子——拇指姑娘就坐在那上面。它們用小尖牙咬那個(gè)梗子,不停地咬,直到把它咬斷為止,使得這片葉子順著水流走了,帶著拇指姑娘流走了.

自由啦,自由啦,拇指姑娘唱起歌來,歌聲像仙女的鈴鐺叮當(dāng)響。自由啦,自由啦,她一邊順著河漂流一邊愉快地唱歌,越漂越遠(yuǎn),漂到癩蛤蟆夠不著她的地方。

小鳥圍繞著她唱歌,岸邊野地里的藍(lán)鈴花也向她鞠躬。

蝴蝶在陽光下飛來飛去,一只很可愛的白蝴蝶飛落到拇指姑娘坐著的葉子上來,它是那么喜歡拇指姑娘于是它停在了她的身邊。

拇指姑娘真是太開心了!小鳥兒在旁邊飛,花兒也陪伴她左右,河水在夏日陽光的照耀下閃爍著金光。除此之外小小拇指姑娘還賒求什么呢?

她解下腰帶,把一端系在蝴蝶身上,把另一端緊緊地系在葉子上。葉子帶著拇指姑娘一起很快地在水上流走了。

突然一只很大的金龜子嗡嗡嗡飛過。哎呀,他看到了她。他飛向她,用爪子抓住她纖細(xì)的腰,把她帶到一棵樹上去了。

可憐的拇指姑娘!她是多么地害怕!她又是多么地傷心!他飛走了沒有?腰帶會(huì)不會(huì)把他系的太緊了?

金龜子為這個(gè)小少女而傾倒,他溫柔地把她放在最大的一片葉子上,還取出蜜糖給她吃,她吸吮著蜜糖,他坐在旁邊告訴她是多么漂亮。

樹林里還住著其它金龜子,他們都跑來看拇指姑娘,呦,她長的一點(diǎn)都不好看吶。

有一個(gè)說:她不過只有兩條腿罷了!

她連觸須都沒有!另一個(gè)說。

他們七嘴八舌,有的說她太瘦了,有的說她太胖了, 然后所有的金龜子一齊叫道,她多么丑啊!太丑了!但不管怎么說拇指姑娘確實(shí)是這個(gè)世界上最美麗,最嬌艷的姑娘。

于是現(xiàn)在呢,金龜子覺得自己崇拜她真是太傻了,他再仔細(xì)端詳她,真的很美嗎?不,并不是很美。他再也沒興趣為她做任何事情了,他和其他金龜子一起飛走 了。他們帶著她從樹上飛下來,把她放在一朵雛菊上面。她在那上面哭得怪傷心的,因?yàn)樗L得那么丑,連金龜子也不要她了。可是她仍然是人們所想象不到的一個(gè) 最美麗的人兒。

The pig & Watermelon

In spring, the mother pig took the little pig LuLu to the foot of the mountain。 They planted some watermelon。

When summer came, there were many big round watermelons in the field。

One day, the sun was burning like a fire, it was terribly hot on the ground。 The mother pig said to the little pig:“Lulu, go to the field to pick a watermelon back,ok?” Lulu said happily:“Ok! No problem?!?/p>

Then he ran to the watermelon field。 When he got to the field, he was happy to find so many big green watermelons。 He chose one of the biggest watermelon and picked it from the vine。 Then he held it with his hands trying to lift is on his shoulder to carry it home。

“Wow!It‘s so heavy!” Lulu tried several times, but he failed。 And he was socked with sweat。 He wiped his sweat off and decided to have a rest。

Suddenly he saw the monkey Pipi。 He was playing with a hoop。 Lulu patted his head and said:“I‘ve got it。” He thought,the round hoop can roll, the watermelon round too,then it can roll too.He then put the big melon on the ground and rolled it forward quickly。

At last he got home with the watermelon.The mother pig knew the story, she exclaimed:“My child, you‘re really clever!”

小豬搬西瓜

春天的時(shí)候,豬媽媽帶著小豬嚕嚕,在山坡下種了一大片西瓜。到了夏天,西瓜地里結(jié)滿了又圓又大的西瓜。

有一天,太陽光火辣辣地照著大地,天啊,可熱了。豬媽媽對(duì)小豬說:“嚕嚕,你到咱們的地里摘個(gè)大西瓜回來解解渴吧!”小豬嚕嚕高興地說:“好吧!”說完就往西瓜地里跑。到了地里一看。呵,到處躺著大西瓜,水靈靈的,真惹人喜愛!嚕嚕挑了個(gè)最大的摘了下來。它雙手摟著西瓜,想抱起來放在肩上扛回家?!皢眩弥匮?”嚕嚕試著抱了幾次都沒有抱起來,還累得滿頭大汗。 它直起身來,擦了擦臉上的汗水想休息一下,再去試試抱西瓜。突然,它看到小猴皮皮在山下邊的馬路上滾鐵環(huán)玩呢。小豬嚕嚕一拍后腦勺高興地說:“有了,我有辦法了?!笔裁崔k法呢?小豬嚕嚕心想:鐵環(huán)是圓的,可以滾動(dòng)。西瓜也是圓的,不也可以滾動(dòng)嗎?想到這兒啊,小豬嚕嚕顧不上休息,把大西瓜放在地上。咕嚕嚕,咕嚕嚕地向前滾,一直把西瓜滾到家里。

豬媽媽看到小豬嚕嚕把又圓又大的西瓜搬回家,夸獎(jiǎng)嚕嚕是個(gè)愛動(dòng)腦筋的豬娃娃!

There was a little old lady who was nearly blind, and she had three sons who wanted to prove which one was the best to her.

從前有一個(gè)近乎失明的小老太,她有三個(gè)兒子,每一個(gè)都想向母親證明自己對(duì)她最好。

Son 1 bought her a 15-room mansion, thinking this would surely be the best that any of them could offer her。

第一個(gè)兒子為她買下一棟有15個(gè)房間的大屋,他覺得這是對(duì)母親最好的孝順方式,其他兄弟都比不上。

Son 2 bought her a beautiful Mercedes with a chauffeur included, thinking this would surely win her approval。

二兒子為她買了一輛漂亮的奔馳,還配了個(gè)司機(jī)。他也覺得他一定會(huì)贏了。

Son 3 had to do something even better, so he bought her a parrot that he had been training for 15 years to memorize the entire Bible. You could ask the parrot any verse in the Bible, and he could quote it word for word. What a gift that would be。

老三為母親買了一只鸚鵡。這只鸚鵡接受了15年的訓(xùn)練,能一字不落地背誦整部圣經(jīng),并且不論你問他什么,他都能從圣經(jīng)里原句引出。

Well, the old lady went to the first son and said, "Son, the house is just gorgeous, but it's really much too big for me. I only live in one room, and it's too large to clean and take care of. I really don't need the house, but thank you anyway." Then she confronted her second son with, "Son, the car is beautiful. It has everything you could ever want on it, but I don't drive and really don't like the chauffeur, so please return the car."

I'm not the fish, you are not the water. Can you see my lonely tears?

我不是魚,你也不是水。你能看見我寂寞的眼淚嗎?

Fish says to Water: I will never leave you, because I can't live without you.

魚對(duì)水說:我永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)離開你,因?yàn)殡x開你,我無法生存。

Water says: I know, but if your heart is missing?

水對(duì)魚說:我知道,可是如果你的心不在呢?

I'm not the fish, you are not the water. I won't leave you, because I love you.

But, am I in your heart?

可是,你的心里有我嗎?

Fish says to Water: Im so lonely, because I only can live in the water.

魚對(duì)水說:我很寂寞,因?yàn)槲抑荒艽谒小?/p>

Water says: I know, because your loneliness is in my heart.

水對(duì)魚說:我知道,因?yàn)槲业男睦镅b著你的寂寞。

I'm not the fish, you are not the water. I'm lonely, because Im missing you.

我不是魚,你也不是水。我寂寞是因?yàn)槲宜寄钅恪?/p>

But, can you feel it?

可是,遠(yuǎn)方的你能感受到嗎?

Fish says to Water: If there is not the fish in the water, then what is else left here?

魚對(duì)水說:如果沒有魚,那水里還會(huì)剩下什么?

Water says: If you were not here, then how I was?

水對(duì)魚說:如果沒有你,那又怎么會(huì)有我?

I'm not the fish, you are not the water. I will still living very well without your love.

我不是魚,你也不是水。沒有你的愛,我依然會(huì)好好的活。

But, living very well does not mean forget.

可是,好好的活并不代表我可以把你忘記。

Fish says to Water: I cant go outside to see the world is the biggest regret in my life.

魚對(duì)水說:一輩子不能出去看看外面的世界,是我最大的遺憾。

Water says: I cant let you give up this idea is my biggest defeat in my life.

水對(duì)魚說:一輩子不能打消你的這個(gè)念頭,是我最大的失敗。

I'm not the fish, you are not the water. Now I just want a promise for a whole life.

我不是魚,你也不是水。現(xiàn)在的我只想要一個(gè)一輩子的承諾。

But, can you burden it?

可是,你負(fù)擔(dān)得起嗎?

Fish says to Water: Am I the first fish in your whole life?

魚對(duì)水說:在你的一生中,我是第幾條魚?

Water says: you are not the first fish in the water, but you are the first fish in my heart.

水對(duì)魚說:你不是在水中的第一條魚,但卻是在我心中的第一條。

I'm not the fish, you are not the water. Both of us are not the first person to each other.

我不是魚,你也不是水??墒牵阒绬?你卻是我第一個(gè)想嫁的人。

But, you know? You are the first one who makes me take care of.

可是,你知道嗎?你卻是我第一個(gè)想嫁的人。

Fish says to Water: Can you belive fall in love at first sight?

魚對(duì)水說:你相信一見鐘情嗎?

Water says: The moment when I wake up to you are a fish, I already knew you will swim to my heart.

水對(duì)魚說:當(dāng)我意識(shí)到你是魚的那一刻,就知道你會(huì)游到我的心里。

I'm not the fish, you are not the water. I think I wouldn't love you for long, because it's love at first sight.

我不是魚,你也不是水。我以為我對(duì)你的愛不會(huì)長久,因?yàn)槟鞘且灰婄娗椤?/p>

But I'm wrong, love is like the wine, store it longer and longer, it will be aromatic more and more.

可是,我錯(cuò)了,感情如酒,越封越濃越長久。

Fish says to Water: Why do I ask and you answer every time?

魚對(duì)水說:為什么每次都是我問你答?

Water says: Because I like that you understand my heart during the interlocution.

I'm not the fish, you are not the water. Why you always let me wait?

You never know my love, maybe I'm not in your heart at all.

你永遠(yuǎn)都不知道我的愛,因?yàn)槲乙苍S根本就不在你的心里……

If I'm the fish, you are the water.

如果我是魚,你就是水。

Can I swim to your heart......
